INMP441 MEMS High Precision Omnidirectional Microphone I2S

The INMP441 is a high-performance, low-power, digital-output omnidirectional MEMS microphone module with a bottom port. It integrates a MEMS sensor, signal conditioning, analog-to-digital converter, anti-aliasing filter, and an industry-standard 24-bit I2S interface, allowing direct connection to microcontrollers and digital processors such as the ESP32, STM32, and Raspberry Pi without requiring an external audio codec [web:71][web:73].

Important Notes

  • This is a bottom-port microphone; ensure the sound inlet hole on the PCB is not obstructed by tape, glue, or enclosure walls.
  • Operates at 1.8V to 3.3V logic; use a level shifter if interfacing with 5V microcontrollers.
  • L/R pin selects the I2S channel: connect to GND for left channel, or VDD for right channel.
  • Requires a microcontroller or processor with I2S peripheral support for proper operation.
  • Avoid exposing the microphone to moisture, dust, or mechanical shock.
  • Refer to your microcontroller’s I2S pin mapping for correct SCK, WS, and SD wiring.
