HC-12 Wireless Serial Module – 433MHz Long Range Transceiver

The HC-12 Wireless Serial Module is a half-duplex, long-range wireless transceiver designed for reliable UART-based serial communication between two microcontrollers or embedded devices. Built around the SI4463/SI4438 RF transceiver chip and an onboard STM8S microcontroller, it operates in the 433MHz ISM band and can transmit data over distances of up to 1000 meters in open space, making it a popular choice for Arduino and ESP32-based wireless projects.

Important Notes

  • This is a half-duplex module; only one device can transmit at a time on the same channel.
  • Actual communication range depends on antenna quality, line of sight, baud rate, and surrounding interference.
  • Use the SET pin to enter configuration mode for changing channel, baud rate, or transmit power settings.
  • Lower baud rates generally provide longer range due to higher receiver sensitivity.
  • Ensure a stable power supply within 3.2V to 5.5V for reliable transmission, especially during peak current draw.
  • Both communicating modules must be configured with matching channel and baud rate settings.
