AD620 Instrumentation Amplifier Module – Precision Microvolt/Millivolt Amplifier

The AD620 Instrumentation Amplifier Module is a low-cost, high-accuracy signal amplifier designed to boost extremely small differential signals from sensors such as strain gauges, load cells, thermocouples, and bridge circuits. Built around the Analog Devices AD620 monolithic instrumentation amplifier IC, it offers a wide adjustable gain range, high common-mode rejection, and low noise performance, making it ideal for precision data acquisition and biomedical signal amplification applications.

Key Features

  • Adjustable gain from 1 to 1000x via onboard potentiometer
  • Gain also settable up to 10,000x using a single external resistor
  • High common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR) greater than 100dB
  • Low input offset voltage and low offset drift
  • Low noise performance for clean signal amplification
  • Wide operating voltage range for flexible power sourcing
  • Low power consumption suitable for battery-operated devices
  • Amplifies both AC and DC input signals
  • Compact module design for easy breadboard and PCB integration
  • Easy interfacing with Arduino, ESP32, and other microcontrollers

  • Strain Gauge and Pressure Transducer Interfaces
  • Precision Data Acquisition Systems
  • Thermocouple Signal Conditioning
  • Industrial Process Control Sensing
  • Battery-Operated and Portable Instrumentation

Important Notes

  • Use the gain formula G = 1 + (49.4 kilo-ohm / RG) to calculate the correct gain resistor value for a specific application.
  • Ensure input signal levels stay within the supported microvolt to millivolt range for accurate amplification.
  • Maintain proper supply voltage levels to avoid signal clipping or distortion at higher gain settings.
  • Avoid exposing the module to excessive electrical noise sources for best signal integrity.
  • This module is not intended for high-frequency or RF signal amplification applications.
  • Handle with care, as the onboard gain-setting potentiometer is a precision component.
