The BME280 Temperature, Humidity, and Pressure Sensor Module is a high-precision environmental sensor developed by Bosch, designed to measure temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure all in a single ultra-compact package. Combining high accuracy with low power consumption, it is an ideal upgrade from basic sensors like the DHT11 or BMP180. Important Notes

  • The BME280 is natively a 3.3V device. If using a 5V microcontroller (like a standard Arduino Uno), use a logic level converter for the I2C/SPI lines or ensure your breakout board has an onboard regulator and level shifting.
  • Ensure you are using the correct I2C address (0x76 or 0x77) in your code, as it depends on the configuration of the SDO pin on the module.
  • Avoid exposing the sensor to direct sunlight, water, or extreme condensation, as this can permanently affect the humidity readings.
  • Keep the sensor away from heat-generating components (like voltage regulators) on your PCB to ensure accurate temperature readings.
  • For altitude calculations, you must provide the current sea-level pressure for your location in your code.
