The ADS1115 16-Bit 4-Channel ADC Module is a precision, low-power analog-to-digital converter breakout board designed to expand the analog input capabilities of Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and other microcontrollers. Featuring a 16-bit resolution, 4 single-ended or 2 differential input channels, and a built-in Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) up to 16x, this module delivers far superior measurement accuracy compared to standard 10-bit onboard ADCs. With an I2C interface, pin-selectable addresses, and a wide 2.0V to 5.5V supply range, it is the ideal choice for high-precision sensor data acquisition, battery monitoring, temperature measurement, and portable instrumentation projects.

Important Notes

  • Do not exceed VDD + 0.3V on any analog input — exceeding this will damage the chip. Use external clamping diodes if necessary.
  • When using PGA settings above VDD (e.g., ±6.144V with 3.3V supply), the full-scale code range above VDD is unused; actual maximum measurable voltage is limited to VDD.
  • Connect ADDR pin to GND, VDD, SDA, or SCL to select one of four I2C addresses. Default is 0x48 if left floating (internal 10K pull-down).
  • In single-ended mode, resolution is effectively 15-bit (one bit used for sign). Use differential mode for full 16-bit resolution.
  • Both differential inputs must remain positive relative to GND; differential mode measures relative difference, not negative ground-referenced voltages.
  • Install a 0.1µF decoupling capacitor close to VDD and GND pins for stable operation.
  • Store in anti-static packaging when not in use to prevent ESD damage.
